The USHWA has announced Hanover
Shoe Farms broodmare D Train as 2007’s Trotting Broodmare of the
Year.
D Train is the dam of Three Year Old Colt Trotter of the Year Donato Hanover t,2,1:55m; 3,1:50.1m $2,998,777 who set a world record for 3YO colt trotters and equaled the all age record in his Kentucky Futurity victory at The Red Mile in Oct. this year. Donato earned $2,336,190 in 2007 with 11 wins in 13 starts setting a new all time earnings record for a trotter in a single season. Among his victories were the $1.5 million Hambletonian, $970,000 Canadian Trotting Classic, $600,000 World Trotting Derby (equaling the all age season’s best at the time -1:51.2), $400,000 Dancer Memorial, $136,000 Bluegrass Stake and the $356,160 Kentucky Futurity. A winner of 19 straight victories in 22 starts lifetime, Donato Hanover is a likely candidate for Horse of the Year honors.
From three foals of racing age D Train has also produced stakes winner Here Comes Herbie t,2,1:56f; 3,1:52m $365,541 and two year old Decimal Hanover t,2,Q2:00m who had a third place finish in the Simpson Stake at the Red Mile this past Sept. Her yearling Revenue filly, D Liteful Hanover, sold for $325,000 at Harrisburg in Nov. She presently has a weanling colt by Windsong’s Legacy on the farm and is back in foal to Andover Hall due mid April.

Two Year Old Pacer Duneside Perch (Cam’s Card Shark-Duck Duck Goose) p,2,1:50.2m $160,325 became the $175,000 2YOCP NJSS Champion at The Meadowlands on July 12th in a two year old national season’s best over a mile track -1:50.2 after winning two NJSS legs previously with driver Ron Pierce in the sulky (in 1:52.4 by 9-1/4 lengths on 6-20-07 and 1:51.4 by 3 lengths on 7-5-07). Trained by George Teague Jr., Duneside Perch completed his season with 3 wins in 4 starts and a fourth place finish in the $415,000 Woodrow Wilson. Unfortunately sidelined by an injury before the Metro Pace at Mohawk his season was cut short in August.
