Riven Hanover (The Panderosa-Ring) 3YOFP p,1:54.1 $34,000 Richard Stillings sat in stalking position as Pavla Hanover (Western Hanover-Pleasure Chest) cut the mile and sent his charge to capture the win by a photo finish nose for co-owner/trainer Randy Bendis, and co-owners William Varney and Reed Broadway.  Riven had 2^nd and 3^rd place finishes coming into the final and swept into the final with her third win of the year in career best time.  A winner of $66,474 lifetime, Riven has pocketed $35,712 in 2008 in 7 starts-3-2-1.  Her dam, Ring, has a Dragon Again yearling filly, Rainy Hanover, selling at the PA Preferred Sale in Aug.  Pavla Hanover was second and Cam’s Card Shark sired Pembroke Swifty overcame post 9 for 3^rd.

Hanover Shoe Farms extends our condolences to the connections of World Champion Holborn Hanover (Cam’s Card Shark-Hattie) p,5,1:46.4m $2,104,143, who was humanely euthanized on March 25^th for a broken cannon bone in his right rear leg. 

The gutsy pacer won $1,125,876 his sophomore season under the conditioning of Mark Harder with 7 wins (including the million dollar Meadowlands Pace in 1:49 at long shot odds of 58-1, the $345,900 Progress Pace at Dover Downs, the $258,190 Dancer Memorial at Freehold and the $86,700 Bluegrass Stake at The Red Mile), 5 seconds (including the Matron Pace, Simcoe Stake & Tattersalls Pace) and 4 thirds.

A veteran racehorse at the age of five by 2006, Holborn claimed the $195,000 US Pacing Championship at The Meadowlands on Hambletonian Day in a world record mile of 1:46.4 and went on to take the Balmoral Park track record of 1:47.4 in the $203,000 American National Final on Aug. 26^th after pacing a 1:48.1 victory in the elimination!  Trained by Brett Robinson he earned $628,249 in 2006 with 9 wins, 6 seconds and 2 thirds.  In addition to the aforementioned wins he is credited with the $189,000 Allerage Pace Final in 1:49.3 at the Red Mile (with a 26.2 final fraction) and Aged Breeders Crown elimination in 1:48 at The Meadowlands- finishing second in the $500,000 final.

Among the richest sons of Cam’s Card Shark with over two billion in lifetime earnings he ranked as the fastest progeny of the Living Hall of Fame stallion.  Holborn Hanover was owned by John Fielding and Canamerica Capitol Corp. of Ontario, Canada.  He will be placed to rest at the farm of his birth.

Took Hanover (The Panderosa-Triplet Hanover) 5YOHP p,3,1:49m $473,707 was the winner of the fastest opening elimination of the $50,000 George M Levy Free For All Pacing Series on Saturday March 29^th pacing a 1:52.1 victory, his second of 2008.  Taking all the timers first the Noel Daley trained pacer scored a strong finish, a 27.4 last quarter, with Gregory Merton in the sulky for owners Adam Victor & Son Stable LLC and John Fielding. 

Took previously claimed the $30,000 Open Handicap on 3-15-08 in 1:52.1 and appears to like the racing surface at Yonkers where he has earned $40,000 for the month of March.  The George M Levy Free For All Pacing Series continues weekly throughout April with $50,000 legs and an estimated $200,000 Final on 5-3-08. 

Took’s dam, Triplet Hanover, has a Western Ideal yearling filly, Truthfully Hanover, to sell at and is in foal to The Panderosa with a full-brother or sister to Took Hanover due in April.

“Hanover Bred” Axson Hanover (Lindy Lane-Atomic Reactor) 4YOGT t,4,1:56.4f $35,120 took the $26,900 West Chestnut Street Final at The Meadows on 3-25-08 in a new lifetime best record for trainer, driver and owner Harold Brocklehurst.  The pair wired the field from start to finish in the trotter’s 3^rd win of the season.   

Axson is 3-2-0 in 10 starts for 2008 with $29,870 bankrolled, including a win and a second place finish in the late closing event at The Meadows on 3-11-08 and 3-18-08, and $21,790 earned in March.  His dam Atomic Reactor produced winners of close to $500,000 including two $100,000+ winners and resides in the retirement herd at Hanover Shoe Farms.

At Dover Downs- My Little Dragon (Dragon Again-My Little Pretty) 5YOMP p,1:51.3 $85,000 Classic Mare Pace.  Brain Sears piloted the millionaires to her third win of 2008 for trainer Noel Daley and Adam Victor & Son Stable LLC.  Taking the leading timer first in 26 flat Sears yielded to cover by Southwind Tempo thru the remaining fractions and then kicked in the afterburner to win by 1-1/2 lengths at the wire.  My Little Dragon has $130,803 earned in 2008 and $1,609,614 lifetime with Breeders Crown Titles at 2 & 3 and world champion status as an aged mare with a world record taken at age 4- 1:48.1 at the Meadowlands.  Her sire Dragon Again is booked full and closed in 2008 thanks to the overwhelming response from breeders.  Look for his yearlings in sales this fall.

Also at Dover- Bikini Bottom (Cam’s Card Shark-Red Cape) 5YOMP p,1:52.2 $24,000 MWO12000L6 Eric Goodell piloted the mile for trainer Josh Green and owner/breeder Jeffrey Eckburg in the pacing mare’s first victory of 2008.  A winner of $347,408 lifetime and $47,850 in 2008 Bikini Bottom closed in for the win with a 28.4 final fraction.
