Hanover Bred Horses of the Month – June 2010

Three Year Old Filly Pacer- Tia Maria Hanover (Bettor’s Delight-Tarport Herald) 3YOFP p,3,1:54.2f $123,200 lifetime

The Hanover Bred sophomore pacer has finished 1-2 or 3 in 8 of 9 starts this season with $80,276 on her seasonal chart.  A winner of $63,381 in the month of June, Tia Maria Hanover earned two wins and a second in New York Sires Stakes legs posting a career best record of 1:54.2f at Tioga Downs on 6-13-10 in line to Jim Marohn Jr. after closing from 6^th at the ¾. 

She was previously a winner by 4-1/4 lengths at Buffalo Raceway on 6-6-10 in a $53,054 NYSS division with Jim McNeight in the bike showing a 1:58.4h mile and later earned a second place finish at Yonkers in a $70,703 NYSS leg with Marohn piloting for trainer Tim Lanpher.  Owned by Judith and Larry Lanpher, Tia Maria has continued to stay in the money this month with a second place posted at Goshen ($15,000 NYSS) and a third place most recently at Tioga in her $62,107 Tompkins-Geers division on 7-16-10 sweeping from 7^th with a three wide move from the ¾ in 27.4 just a length and a half behind the winner.

Her dam, Tarport Herald, foaled a Badlands Hanover colt on 3-3-10 and was bred to Dragon Again in 2010.

Honorable Mention- A And G’s Princess (Allamerican Native-Amorosa Hanover) 3YOFP p,1:51.1s $229,148 lifetime ($97,977 in 2010) A winner of her Fan Hanover elimination by a nose in 1:51.1 at Mohawk in line to Yannick Gingras for trainer Mark Capone and owner A & G Stables, A And G’s Princess earned $70,039 in the month of June including a 3^rd place finish in the $171,565 Lismore Final at Yonkers on 6-12-10 and a 5^th in the $646,020 Fan Hanover Final.

Three Year Old Colt Pacer- All Speed Hanover (Cam’s Card Shark-Allamerican Cool) 3YOCP p,3,1:49.4s $651,038 ($164,088 in 2010) A winner of $162,000 in the month of June, All Speed Hanover showed victories in NJ Classic and NA Cup eliminations and earned a career best mark of 1:49.4s at Mohawk on 6-19-10. The sophomore colt banked $125,000 in his second place finish at The Meadowlands on 6-12-10 in the $500,000 NJ Classic for owners Adam Victor & Son Stable LLC and John Fielding.  He is driven by Ron Pierce and trained by Noel Daley.

His dam, Allamerican Cool, sells a Dragon Again yearling colt, Acrylic Hanover, at Harrisburg this fall and foaled a Somebeachsomewhere colt on 5-14-10. She is back in foal to Beach for 2011.

Honorable Mention- Aracache Hanover (Dragon Again-Armbro Cachet) 3YOCP p,3,1:50.1s $192,631 lifetime ($155,177 in 2010) 3^rd place finish in the $97,000 Burlington on 6-12-10 and a winner of 2 starts and $66,425 in June including $88,011 PASS division at Pocono on 6-28-10 in 1:51.3f wire to wire for trainer Gregg McNair and owners William Switala and James Martin.  In July a winner of condition race at Mohawk on 7-10-10 in 1:50.2s. **UPDATE** PASS winner in STAKES RECORD of 1:50.1f at The Meadows on 7-17-10 now $226,035 lifetime ($188,581 - 7 starts- 5-0-2 in 2010)!!

Three Year Old Trotting Filly- Barham Hanover (Cantab Hall-Bar Queen) 3YOFT t,2,1:57f $323,312 lifetime ($78,032 in 2010) A winner of $40,500 Currier & Ives Trot on 6-3-10 at the Meadows equaling her career best record 1:57f taken at two with Mike Wilder in line for trainer/co-owner Dan Altmeyer and owners Heather Wilder, Richard Kelson and Jack Piatt III.  Barham finished 5^th in Casual Breeze division at Mohawk on 6-11-10 and was 2^nd in her $64,059 PASS division on 6-23-10 at Chester banking a total of $39,789 in the month of June.  So far in July Barham has won her $25,000 Reynolds Stake division in 1:57.1 at Pocono on 7-12-10.

Bar Queen sells a Donato Hanover yearling filly, Breakdance Hanover, at Harrisburg in November and foaled a Yankee Glide filly on 5-25-10.

Honorable Mention- Spicy Wings (Andover Hall-Angel Fire Hanover) 3YOFT t,3,1:55f $411,374 ($210,240 in 2010) In the month of June Spicy Wings earned $44,087 with 2 wins including a $64,059 PASS division at Chester. Trained by Jeff Webster Spicy Wings blossomed in the month of July to take the $299,050 Hudson Filly Trot for owners Let It Ride Stables Inc., Mentally Stable Inc. and Jerry Silva.  She now sports 4 wins, 1 second and 1 third in 7 starts for the season.

Angel Fire Hanover sells an Andover Hall full-brother to Spicy Wings, Allfiredup Hanover, at Harrisburg this fall and foaled a Donato Hanover filly on 4-3-10.

Three Year Old Trotting Colt- Pearson Hanover (Cantab Hall-Photo Of A Lady) 3YOCT t,3,1:58.4f $28,562 6 wins in 11 starts this season including PA Stallion Series division on 6-12-10 at Pocono trained and driven by Riina Rekila and owned by Overseas Farms Ltd. Photo Of A Lady sells a Yankee Glide yearling filly, Pittypat Hanover, this fall.

Aged Trotter- Neighsay Hanover (Muscles Yankee-Nan’s Conway) 4YOHT t,1:52.4m $567,649 A winner of 3 straight starts in the month of June at The Meadowlands trotting a career best of 1:52.4 on 6-11-10 in a $21,000 condition trot. Presently owned by Ted Gewertz, Leif Alber, Charles Iannazzo and Ray Schnittker, the trotter was trained by Trond Smedshammer in June.

Nan’s Conway sells a Glidemaster yearling colt, Norway Hanover, in Nov. and foaled a Glidemaster filly on 4-17-10.

Aged Pacer- Sharky Osborne (Cam’s Card Shark-Shady Past) 9YOGP p,1:49.4f $782,941 ($101,500 in 2010) A winner of two starts in the month of June pacing miles of 1:52.1 and 1:53 Sharky Osborne started on a winning streak and now sports 4 straight into the month of July at Yonkers. Trained by Josh Green and driven most recently by Brent Holland, Sharky Osborne continues to earn his oats with 12 times on the board this year for owners Robert Darrow, Casie Coleman and Ron Broadstone.

Shady Past sells an E Dee’s Cam yearling colt, Shyster Hanover, at Harrisburg this Nov. and was bred to Bettor’s Delight in 2010.

Three Year Olds -

- Aracache Hanover (Dragon Again-Armbro Cachet) 3YOCP p,3,1:52.3h $115,536 was the winner of $78,082 in the month of May.  

The sophomore pacer’s first pari-mutuel start earned him a new career mark of 1:52.3h in the $36,163 Bud Light at Flamboro Downs on 5-14-10 with Doug Mc Nair in the bike.  The pair cut a wire to wire mile at the twice around (27.2, 57.2, 1:25.1 with a 27.2LQ) for trainer Gregg McNair and owners William Switala and James Martin.

And then on 5-29-10 Aracache put forth a 3^rd place effort in the $500,000 Hoosier Cup at Hoosier Park taking the opening timer first in 26.2 then shuffled back to 4^th thru mid-fractions under the piloting of John Campbell the pacer rallied from 5^th in the stretch to claim the show ticket banking $60,000 and pacing in 1:51.4.

Aracache is the first foal from Armbro Cachet p,3,1:52.4s $98,877 and his career card now sports $115,536 in earnings to date.  Armbro Cachet is a sister to 3 $100,000+ winners including Shipps Xpectancy p,3,1:50.2s $448,150. She is currently in foal to Badlands Hanover for 2011.

- Pike Hanover (Western Ideal-Popcorn Penny) 3YOCP p,3,1:52.4f $70,712 earned $30,362 in the month of May taking 2 wins in the Mohegan Pace Late Closer Series including the $44,000 Final on 5-8-10 for owners David and John Prushnok, Deo Volente Farms LLC and William Gregg. 

Under the tutorage of Erv Miller and driven by Jim Morrill Jr., Pike made a monster move from 9^th at the ½ swinging three wide (4^th at the ¾) and closing strongly with a 29.3 final to take the wire by a neck in the series final completing a sweep of 3 straight wins!  The pacer has posted 5 career wins and took a personal record mile of 1:52.4f in the opening leg of the Mohegan on 4-24-10. 

His dam Popcorn Penny p,3,1:50.4m $624,359 has three foals currently racing in 2010 including Pence Hanover p,3,1:55.1h $60,512 who has 8 career wins to date.  She foaled an Allamerican Native colt on 3-9-10 and has been bred back to Yankee Cruiser this season.

Honorable Mention- Aged Pacer- Pilgrims Toner (The Panderosa-Beep Beep) 6YOGP p,1:48.2f $363,384 took a new career record and equaled the fastest mile ever paced at Pocono Downs in a $24,000 Open Pace on 5-29-10.  Brian Sears held the lines for Frank Catalfamo (trainer), Joseph Spezio, Patrick Daley and Robert Mills in the pacer’s 9^th win of ’10 and 24^th lifetime.  The record equaled the time of like wise sired Shadow Play’s Adios elimination victory in 2008.  Pilgrims Toner has earned $159,555 so far this season and was named Hanover Bred Horse of the Month as well as USTA Horse of the Month in April when he placed 4 straight Invitationa

 

Hanover Bred Horse of the Month April 2010-

Pacer of the Month- Pilgrims Toner (The Panderosa-Beep Beep) p,6,1:48.4m $333,784 (15 starts-8-1-2 and $129,955 in ’09) 23 career victories

Pilgrims Toner swept through the month of April with 4 consecutive Invitational victories at The Meadowlands earning $64,000 for owners Joseph Spezio, Patrick Daley, Robert Mills, and Frank Catalfamo, who also conditions the pacer.  Sporting a win streak of 7 straight that began for the six year old veteran on 3-6-10 when he paced miles of 1:51.2 and 1:49.2 in condition races at The Big M, Pilgrims Toner then proceeded to move up in class to the $32,000 Invitational level and kicked off a 5-1/2 length win in 1:50 (by 5-1/2 lengths) on 3-27-10. 

In April the pacer, piloted primarily by Yannick Gingras, continued to impress with back to back 1:49 victories on 4-3-10 (by 2-1/2 lengths) and 4-10-10 (by 3-3/4 lengths) blazing a 26.1 final fraction in the latter start.  After posting a 1:50 winning effort by a neck on 4-17-10 with Andy Miller in the bike, Pilgrims Toner paced to the fastest mile of 2010 thus far with a 1:48.4 victory on 4-24-10 in line to Gingras going wire to wire (26.4, 54.1, 1:21.2, 27.2 LQ) and taking the finish line by a neck over millionaire Shark Gesture.  

With 2010 earnings of $129,955 and 8 posted wins this season, Pilgrims Toner ranks among the top ten richest pacers of the year and now leads in speed for all age pacers.  His 1:48.4 mile on 4-24-10 gave him a new record and he is currently in the richest season of his lifetime career.

His dam, Beep Beep, was unfortunately euthanized in April of 2008 due to complications of colic.  Beep Beep also produced Blowout Hanover p,1:51.2f $204,459 (by Cam’s Card Shark) a winner of 25 career starts.

Sire, The Panderosa, has produced total progeny earnings in excess of $62 million with 5 millionaire performers including 2009 performers Shadow Play p,1:47.4m $1,549,881 (winner of $328,750 US Pacing Championship) and Mypanmar p,1:48.3s $1,378,970.  In 2009 leading freshman performer You See L A p,2,1:52.4m $205,378 won Bluegrass, International Stallion Stake and Whenyouwishuponastar Final, and sophomore Chasin Racin p,3,1:51f $574,209 scored in the $104,400 Matt’s Scooter Final and placed in the $500,000 Battle of Brandywine and $500,000 Hoosier Cup.  At four Chasin Racin has won two legs of the George Morton Levy Free For All Pacing Series at Yonkers in 2010, as has likewise sire Pangiorno p,3,1:50.3f $184,271. 

The Panderosa stands for a reduced fee of $6,000 for the 2010 breeding season.

Trotter of the Month- Bramalea Hanover (Windsong’s Legacy-Bramasole) t,3,1:56s $66,514 (8 starts- 7 wins in ’10)

Bramalea Hanover earned $49,400 in the month of April sweeping the Celias Counsel Trotting Series at Woodbine and posted three victories adding to her expanding win column which now boasts 7!  On 4-5-10 guided by Stephen Condren, the Robert McIntosh pupil coasted to a 2 length win in the opening round division trotting in 1:58.2 then bettered her record on 4-12-10 with a strong 2-3/4 length win setting off all timers in 1:56.3. 

In the $59,400 Celias Counsel Final on 4-19-10, Bramalea played with her competition setting off 3^rd to the ¼, making quick work to the lead by posting a 58 flat ½ and proceeded to open up by 5 to the wire (28 LQ) setting a new career record of 1:56s in the process.

Bramalea Hanover has earned $66,514 to date for owner Susan Grange.

Bramalea’s dam, Bramasole t,1:53.1m, was the winner of $347,753 in her racing career and foaled a Donato Hanover colt on 4-5-10.  She is booked back to 2007’s Horse of the Year Donato Hanover for the 2010 breeding season.                               

Hanover Bred Horse of the Month for March 2010-

Trotter- Impel Hanover (Andover Hall-Imposing Hanover) 5YOHT t,1:54.4m $145,264 lifetime

Impel Hanover was the winner of $43,700 in the month of March winning two starts including an opening round division of the Horse & Groom Series at The Meadowlands in a career best record of 1:54.4.  George Brennan drove the James Atkinson trainee in the trotting series and took a 2^nd place finish by a nose in the $96,000 Final on 3-25-10 after cutting the mile fractions (1:53.3 individual time - 28, 55.3, 1:24 and a 29.3 LQ). 

Impel also earned a win at Dover in early March taking a three wide move past the ¾ marker (7^th) and clearing the field by 3-3/4 lengths at the finish under the piloting of Jim King Jr. and is currently a winner of $62,830 in ’10 with 7 times on the board in 11 starts this season for owners Carol & James Atkinson.

His dam, Imposing Hanover, sells a Donato Hanover yearling filly, Impeding Hanover, at Harrisburg this fall and is in foal to Broadway Hall for 2010.

Pacer- Voelz Hanover (Astreos- Vassar Hanover) p,3,1:51.2s $680,263 lifetime

Voelz Hanover has earned $63,842 in ’10 with $40,680 in the month of March.  She scored two wins this past month including a $43,120 F&M Open at Woodbine in 1:51.3s.  Mario Baillargeon took the lines for trainer Benoit Baillargeon and owner Richard Berthiaume.  Voelz also won a condition start at Woodbine on 3-12-10 in 1:53.1 and took checks in two other starts in March. 

Voelz is her dam’s richest progeny with $680,263 on her career card (16 wins).  Her dam, Vassar Hanover, has produced 4 $200,000+ winners including Northern Sun p,1:50.1m $571,206, Verbatim Hanover p,3,1:51.2m $203,706 and Out Of Sight p,3,1:52.2m $200,142. 

Vassar Hanover sells a Modern Art yearling colt, Varsity Hanover, at Harrisburg this fall and is in foal to Cam’s Card Shark for 2010. 

Hanover Bred Horse of the Month for February 2010-

Hyperion Hanover (Camluck-Hattie) 7YOGP p,1:49.1s $894,070 lifetime

Hyperion Hanover was a winner of $77,080 in the month of February taking three straight Open wins at Woodbine.  Trained by Robert Fellows and piloted by Jody Jamieson, Hyperion edged out his competition by a neck on 2-13-10 pacing a final quarter fraction in 27.3 after leading all mile fractions from post 6 (1:51.4 winning time).  On 2-20-10 a garden spot trip by Jamieson gave the veteran pacer placement for the winning move taking the wire first again by a neck (27 last panel-1:51.1), and on 2-27-10 Hyperion made it a triple play by a head in an exciting photo finish coming home in 27.2 after a first up move by the ½ (race time 1:53.4).  

Hyperion has banked $102,585 thus far in 2010 with 3 wins, 1 second and 2 thirds in 8 starts and now sports $894,070 on his career card!  He took a record mark of p,6,1:49.1s at Woodbine last November and had his richest season with $259,342 earned in 2009 for owner S S G Stables.

Hyperion’s dam, Hattie, is presently in foal to 2008 World Champion and Horse of the Year Somebeachsomewhere due in May of 2010.  She has produced progeny earnings of over $4 million with 7 $100,000+ winners, 3 sub 1:50 performers and 1 multi-millionaire - Holborn Hanover (by Cam’s Card Shark) p,1:46.4m $2,070,648 who paced to a World Record mile in the US Pacing Championship on Aug. 8^th 2006.  Hattie sells a Dragon Again yearling colt, Hillbilly Hanover, this fall.

Honorable Mention- Winner of C$60,000 Miss Vera Bars Pacing Series Final at Woodbine on 2-11-10 in 1:53.4s, three year old A Pippin Hanover (Dragon Again-Appleonia Art).  Jody Jamieson jumped on the bike for trainer Kristofer Di Cenzo and owner Antonio Chiaravalle and gave the sophomore pacing lass her 3rd win of 2010 and 2^nd in the series claiming the final round in a career best record.  Leading all fraction times (28.1, 57.1, 1:25.3 & 28.1 LQ), A Pippin crossed the wire 2 lengths the best in a field of eight.  Previously a winner in a Leg one division on 1-28-10 pacing in 1:57.4 and second in Leg 2, with an individual clocking of 1:54.2 on 2-4-10, the pacer also took a leg in the Blizzard Series in January and has banked $51,600 in 2010.

Her dam, Appleonia-Art, has produced stakes winners Appleoosa Hanover p,3,1:52.1s $468,725 and Apere Hanover p,3,1:52.1m $153,248 and is currently in foal to 2008 Horse of the Year Somebeachsomewhere.

Dragon Again leads 2010 3YO Pacing Progeny Earnings with $161,226 and ranks 4^th among All Age Pacer Earnings with $1,141,349 as of 3-2-10.

 Hanover Bred Horse of the Month for January 2010-

Kandor Hanover (Taglibue- Katelyns Glory) 4YOMT t,1:55.4s $117,898 lifetime. 

Kandor Hanover earned $41,101 in the month of January taking two second place finishes at Woodbine in the legs of the Lifetime Dream Series trotting in 1:58.3 over a good track on 1-3-10 and 1:57.2 on a fast rated track on 1-10-10. 

In the $58,200 Final on 1-17-10 Randy Waples wielded the win for trainer/co-owner John Burns, Online Stables and J. Patrick Huber dashing to the ¾ first over in 1:26.1 after taking early fractions 4^th.  A 29.3 final panel secured the win by a head in a career best record of 1:55.4s and increased the mare’s bankroll by $29,100.

Katelyns Glory presently resides in the Hanover Shoe Farms retirement herd having produced two $100,000 winners-  Khifra Hanover t,1:54.3f $111,460 as well as Kandor Hanover, who was her final foal.

Honorable Mention- Domitian Hanover (Camluck-Debras Charm) 6YOHP p,3,1:50s $858,354 lifetime.  Domitian Hanover claimed the $32,500 Delaware Special at Dover on 1-18-10 in 1:50.2 by a neck margin coming home in 27.3 over the 5/8ths surface with Ron Pierce in tow for conditioner/owner Josh Green.  The veteran pacer has 19 career wins and earned $146,520 in 2009 with over $800,000 to his credit lifetime.  He has already won a $26,000 Open Handicap in February pacing in 1:51 and appears to be off to a good start in 2010.

Debras Charm has produced $1.88 million in progeny earnings with 5 $100,000 winners including Union Guy p,1:50.1s $517,586, Camfred p,1:52.1m $134,147, Draft Hanover p,3,1:53h $132,437 and Native Doll p,2,1:51.4s (in 2009) $163,641 in addition to Domitian Hanover.  She is expecting a Cam’s Card Shark foal this year via embryo transfer and will be bred back to PASS winner Native Doll’s sire Allamerican Native in 2010.

Hanover Bred Horses of the Year for 2009-

Trotter of the Year- Yursa Hanover (Windsong’s Legacy-Yankee Topaz) t,3,1:53.2m $701,958 lifetime (16 starts-7-4-2 and $367,157 in 2009)

Yursa Hanover was Hanover Bred Horse of the Month in July and November of 2009 and Trotter of the Month in June 2009.  The sophomore trotting filly came into 2009 with $334,801 in freshman earnings after taking second place finishes in the $486,640 Goldsmith Maid Final and $700,000 Breeders Crown Final in 2008. 

In 2009 her first win at three came in the $66,750 Casual Breeze at Mohawk where she trotted in 1:56s followed by a second place finish in the $44,000 Elegantimage Final in the month of June.  July saw her score a pair of wins trotting to the winner’s circle at Vernon on 7-10-09 in 1:58.1 in preparation for her $168,000 Del Miller victory in a career best of 1:53.2m at The Meadowlands. 

After a pair of qualifier wins at Vernon, Yursa won her Hudson Filly elimination at Yonkers but failed to fire in the $327,985 Final finishing a disappointing 7^th after breaking stride at the gate.  Rebounding with a 2^nd place finish in her $118,297 Simcoe Stake at Mohawk on 9-10-09, she earned a win in the $42,386 Bud Light at Flamboro Downs on 9-26-09 in 1:59.1. 

Lexington bound in October, Yursa chalked up 2^nd place stats in her Kentucky Filly Futurity starts trotting a 1:53.4 mile in her elimination heat (27.2 LQ) and leading into the stretch in the $181,440 Final heat but beaten by a length at the wire in a 1:54.1 individual time. 

In November she returned to her winning form with both Matron Elimination and $214,163 Matron Final victories in 1:55 and 1:53.4f respectively.  A total of 7 victories and $367,157 banked in her sophomore season put Yursa at over $700,000 in career earnings for owner Richard Berthiaume.

Yursa Hanover’s dam Yankee Topaz is also the dam of 2YO International Stallion Stake winner and PASS/Bluegrass Stake placed performer He’s Spooky (by Cantab Hall).  She sold a SJ’s Caviar yearling colt, Hip # 1123 Pinstripes Hanover, at Harrisburg for $25,000, foaled a Cantab Hall colt Yorkie Hanover in 2009, and is in foal to 2007 Horse of the Year Donato Hanover due in April of 2010.

 Pacer of the Year- All Speed Hanover (Cam’s Card Shark-Allamerican Cool) 2YOCP p,1:50.3m $486,950 (7 starts- 5-0-1)

 All Speed Hanover was Hanover Bred Horse of the Month in October after awesome performances at Lexington and in the Breeders Crown Final at Woodbine.  Earning 3 wins in early closer events at The Red Mile in August, the freshman pacer settled for third in his Governor’s Cup elimination at Chester (1:51.3 individual time) and failed to get a check in the Final despite pacing in 1:52.1 but made a remarkable come back in Lexington in October! 

Winning his $139,800 Bluegrass Stake on 10-3-09 with a 1:50.3 mile coming first up over a fast track (27.1 LQ) was impressive enough but the following week sealed the deal as he gunned out a 26.3 final fraction in his $119,300 International Stallion Stake division pacing a first over mile from 3^rd at the ½, 2^nd by a nose at the ¾, going toe to toe with season’s leader One More Laugh and pulling away by 2 lengths across the finish over a track rated sloppy with a capital S!

His Breeders Crown victory on 10-24-09 again reflected the gutsy colt’s determination and fortitude as he rallied from 6^th at the ½ mile marker and on the hunt for the lead by the ¾ third and three wide.  Into the stretch All Speed challenged leader Sportswriter in a tremendous stretch duel and took the win photo by a head with a 28.1 last quarter.  

Owned by Adam Victor & Son Stable LLC and John Fielding, All Speed Hanover earned $486,950 his first season on the track with a Breeders Crown Championship and impressive stakes wins to his credit!

All Speed Hanover’s dam, Allamerican Cool, sold a Rocknroll Hanover yearling filly, Antoinette Hanover for $70,000 at Lexington this fall, has a Dragon Again weanling colt, Acrylic Hanover (a full-brother to Allamerican Co-ed p,2,1:53.4 $146,057), and  is in foal to 2008 Horse of the Year and World Champion Somebeachsomewhere due in May of 2010.

Cardiff scored a lifetime best in the $54,050 Brad Gunn Final at Northlands Park on 12-19-09 overtaking the race favorite by a neck at the wire for owners Lorne Duffield and Rafter H Standardbreds with Jean Gagne on the lines.  A winner of $27,664 in December, Cardiff was listed under trainer Paul Derksen for his Northlands Park starts but had previously won 4 under the Michael Hennessy Stable banner at Fraser Downs and Grand Prairie in 2009 with $49,054 on his seasonal card.  In 2010 the now 4 year old pacer has made two starts at Fraser with Hennessy back in the sulky in the Keith Linton Memorial finishing 3^rd in his elimination and 4^th in the Final with career earnings now totaling $55,253.

Yursa Hanover (Windsong’s Legacy-Yankee Topaz) 3YOFT t,3,1:53.2m $701,958 lifetime (16 starts in 2009 with 7-4-2 and $367,157 earned).  Yursa Hanover was a winner of $124,928 in the month of November winning both her $35,694 Matron elimination and $214,163 Matron Final at Dover Downs.  Tim Tetrick was in the bike in both starts for trainer Benoit Baillargeon and owner Richard Berthiaume of Quebec, Canada.  A three wide move from 5^th at the ¾ brought Yursa home in 28.3 in her Matron elimination on 11-8-09 taking the wire by a neck in 1:55f and a pocketed trip in the final earned a stretch drive move to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:53.4f.

The sophomore trotting lass has chalked up seven victories this season winning the $168,000 Del Miller at The Meadowlands (by 3 lengths in a career best of 1:53.2m), the $66,750 Casual Breeze at Mohawk (1:56s), the $42,386 Bud Light at Flamboro, and $20,000 Hudson Filly elimination at Yonkers (1:59.1h) in addition to her recent Matron wins.  She finished second in the $181,440 Kentucky Filly Futurity Final at The Red Mile (2^nd in the first heat elimination also timed in 1:53.4m), plus $118,297 Simcoe Stakes (timed in 1:55s) and $44,000 Elegantimage Final (timed in 1:56s) both at Mohawk.

All Speed Hanover (Cam’s Card Shark-Allamerican Cool) 2YOCP p,1:50.3m $486,950

A winner of $479,550 in the month of October, All Speed Hanover stepped up to the plate and hit three home runs including the $700,000 Breeders Crown Final at Woodbine on 10-24-09.  With Ron Pierce on the lines for trainer Mike Vanderkemp the “come from behind” freshman pacer swooped in for the win passing the ¾ marker three wide and engaged favorite Sportswriter in an exciting stretch duel.  The pair battled out a 28.1 final quarter clocking into strong headwinds in the long Woodbine stretch with All Speed coming out the best by a head at the wire. 

Owned by Adam Victor & Son Stable LLC and John Fielding, the Cam’s Card Shark sired pacer has scored 5 wins in 7 starts and banked $486,950 his début season taking a 1:50.3m record at The Red Mile in his $139,800 Bluegrass Stake on 10-3-09 under the tutorage of trainer Noel Daley.   Then the following week on 10-09-09 in his $119,300 International Stallion Stake division All Speed earned a healthy dose of respect traveling first over from the half 3^rd and digging in for the win with an impressive 26.3 last panel over a sloppy rated track to take the finish first by a solid two lengths over top rated One More Laugh and equaling his freshman record with Ron Pierce at the wheel in both starts.

Yursa Hanover (Windsong’s Legacy-Yankee Topaz) 3YOFT t,3,1:53.2m $470,423 lifetime (6 starts-3-1-1 and $135,622 in 2009).   Yursa Hanover won her Del Miller Memorial division at The Meadowlands in a career best showing gutsy determination as she made a bid for the lead 4^th past the ¼ and gearing up to take the engine past the ½ in 57.1.  A speed duel ensued to the ¾ as Wedding Dress challenged in a 27.4 third panel setting off the timer in 1:25 flat with Yursa in the lead by a half length margin and opening up by 3 to the wire with a 28.2 final fraction.  Tim Tetrick held the lines for trainer Tracy Brainard and owner Richard Berthiaume in the sophomore trotter’s 3^rd victory of ‘09 and second of July earning $85,995 for the month.  Yursa has banked $135,622 this season winning the $66,750 Casual Breeze and scoring a second place finish in her $44,000 Elegantimage division at Mohawk earlier in the year.

3YOCP- Rusty’s All In (Western Hanover-Allamerican Nadia) earned $86,787 in May with a win on 5-6-09 in a new lifetime mark of 1:53.1f at Chester and two second place finishes in the Max Hempt Memorial elimination and $300,140 Final on 5-16-09 and 5-23-09 respectively at Mohegan Sun Pocono.  Pacing in 1:51.1 in his Hempt elimination division, Rusty led the field to the opening quarter time of 27.1, then sat pocketed tidily 1 and ¼ lengths behind the leader claiming second with a 27.4 final fraction.  Driven by Tim Tetrick in the $300,140 Max Hempt Final, the sophomore pacer sat 3^rd throughout mile fractions and dug for racing room with a 27.4 last panel to finish second to Johnny Z and banking $75,035 for his efforts.  Owned by Carter Racing Stable LLC and LeBanc Racing LLC, Rusty’s All In has earned $112,550 in his career thus far with $99,012 in ’09 (7 starts-3-2-1) under the tutorage of Steve LeBlanc.  His dam, Allamerican Nadia, foaled a Western Ideal colt on 2-27-09 and is back in foal to 2008’s Horse of the Year Somebeachsomewhere p,3,1:46.4m $3,221,299!

3YOFP- Amora Hanover (Western Ideal-Armbro Romance) p,3,1:53.1f $36,481 A winner of 4 straight starts including 3 in April and 2 legs of the Wilkes Barre Late Closer Series at Pocono Downs!  Driven by Jim Morrill Jr. in both her Pocono starts, Amora clocked a lifetime best in Leg 1 of the Wilkes Barre on 4-22-09 pacing in 1:53.1f and earned a 1:53.4f victory on 4-29-09 in her Leg 2 division.  The up and coming sophomore filly is trained by Mark Harder and owned by Garth Bechtel of Ontario, Canada.  Amora was previously a winner of two condition starts at The Big M piloted by George Brennan timed at the wire in 1:53.2m and 1:54.1m and has banked $29,565 thus far in ’09 ($36,481 lifetime).

Her dam, Armbro Romance, sells a Western Hanover yearling colt, Air West Hanover, this fall at Harrisburg.  Armbro Romance is in foal to Dragon Again due mid-May and will be bred back to 2008’s Horse of the Year Somebeachsomewhere in ’09.

3YOFT- Kandor Hanover (Tagliabue-Katelyns Glory) t,3,1:57.1s $53,513  Kandor scored three consecutive victories in the Celia Counsel Trotting Series for 3YOFT at Woodbine including the C$47,200 Final on 4-20-09 by 9 lengths over a sloppy track!  The talented trotter swept the series in graceful strides taking a new lifetime best of 1:57.1s on 4-13-09 winning by a ¾ length margin with a 27.4 final panel and powering an 11-3/4 length win on 4-6-09 in the opening round with a 2:02 time over a “good” track.  Kandor banked $35,688 in April for trainer/co-owner John Burns and co-owners Online Stables & Patrick Huber increasing her career bankroll to $53,513. 

Kandor was the final foal from her dam, Katelyns Glory, who lives in the Hanover Shoe Farms retirement herd.

Honorable Mention - Surveille Hanover (The Panderosa-Shades Of Art) 3YOFP p,1:54f $34,743 Under the tutorage of George Teague Jr., Surveille took a lifetime best record of 1:54f at Chester on 4-29-09 winning by 3-1/4 lengths in a $11,000 conditioned pace.  The start was an impressive rebound for the filly who had a rough go her previous start experiencing broken equipment and finishing a distant last.  In early April Surveille put forth a 1:56.1 effort finishing 3^rd at Dover and won her first start at Chester on 4-15-09 in 1:57.4 pacing to a 29.3 final panel in a $10,000 nw3cd.  Owned by Elmer Fannin and George Teague Jr., Inc., Surveille has 2 wins and 1 third on her card this season with $13,560 earned and appears to be headed on the right track.

Her dam, Shades Of Art, sells a Western Ideal yearling colt, Showbiz Hanover, at The New Jersey Classic Sale in Sept., is in foal to Western Ideal due mid-May and will be bred back to Dragon Again in ’09.

Domitian Hanover (Camluck-Debras Charm) earned $22,340 in the month of March winning a $25,000 conditioned pace at Dover Downs on 3-9-09 in 1:51.4 and taking 2 third  place finishes in Open Handicaps at the Delaware 5/8 mile track on 3-23-09 (timed in 1:52.4) and 3-30-09 (timed in 1:53).  Josh Green conditions the pacer for owner Larry Baron and Eric Goodell has taken the lines in all the pacer’s ‘09 starts.  Domitian Hanover has earned $702,844 lifetime with 12 victories, 8 seconds and 8 thirds.  His career best record was taken at 3 covering the Mohawk surface in 1:50s. 

Domitian’s dam, Debras Charm, is booked to Living Hall of Fame racehorse and 1:47 sire Cam’s Card Shark for the 2009 breeding season.  She has produced foal earnings in excess of $1.5 million and has 3 $100,000+ performers with 5 in 1:53.

Caerleon Hanover (Western Ideal-Carmellos) banked $22,375 in the month of March winning a $26,000 conditioned pace at Dover on 3-16-09 (in 1:52.2) and finishing 2^nd in a $37,500 Delaware Special division on 3-23-09 (timed in 1:52.3).  Caerleon has four wins in ’09 with $57,850 added to his card bumping his lifetime total to $304,136.  Ron Pierce pilots the James McGuire pupil for owners Eugene Kurzrok, Stephen Springer and Richard Taylor.

Caerleon’s dam, Carmellos, unfortunately died from complications of colic in 2005 but her progeny have earned $1,474,783 to date and have included 3 $200,000+ winners- Cardmaster Hanover p,3,1:50.2m $607,629, Chutney Hanover p,1:53.1m $238,640 and Caerleon Hanover p,1:51.3f $304,136.  His sire, Western Ideal, has produced total progeny earnings of $36 million with 94 $100,000+ and 5 million dollar winners and 5 sub-1:49 performers.

Three Year Old Pacer-

Hanover Bred Bring The Heat (Dragon Again-Eicarls Olvidar) earned $17,350 in March, winning a leg of the Hopeful Pacing Series at Yonkers on 3-7-09 in a lifetime best of 1:55.4h and finishing 2^nd in the $49,400 Hopeful Final on 3-14-09 (timed in 1:55).  The Linda Toscano trainee banked $21,050 in the series with 2^nd and 3^rd place finishes taken in Feb. as well.  Brent Holland secured driving duty in three of those Yonkers starts for owners Stake Your Claim 1, Fred Wallace and Seth Coen.  Bring The Heat has earned $28,872 to date.

Hanover Bred Horse of the Month for February 2009-

Camshaft Hanover (Artiscape-Cams Little Star) captured the $73,800 Exit 16W Final at The Meadowlands on February 21^st equaling his lifetime best record of 1:50.3 after taking a three wide path to the finish from 7^th at the ¾ marker.  Trained by David Pinkney Jr., Camshaft  banked $42,900 in the month of February for owner Ian Smith taking a second place finish in the opening round of the 16W series on 2-6-09 and a fifth place in the second leg of the series on 2-13-09.  With Daniel Dube taking the lines in the series final, Camshaft cruised to victory with a 27.3 last fraction clocking increasing his bankroll to $141,555 lifetime.  Camshaft previously claimed a win in the Clyde Hirt Series also at The Meadowlands in Jan. giving the pacer 9 career victories to his credit.

Camshaft’s dam, Cams Little Star, sells a Modern Art yearling colt, Clusium Hanover, this fall, is in foal to Allamerican Native and will be bred to Yankee Cruiser in 2009!

Hanover Bred Riggins (Art Major-Towner’s Image) gets a tip of the hat for earning $51,000 in the month of February with a win and two seconds in the Aquarius Series at The Meadowlands!  Trained by Casie Coleman and piloted by David Miller, Riggins reeled in the opening round of the Aquarius with a career best of 1:50.1 then came within a nose of the second round after pacing home in 27.3.  The $84,000 Final eluded Riggins by a neck with a 1:49.4 clocking but he managed to pocket $21,000 for his effort.  Riggins is owned by Bulletproof Enterprises and has 11 lifetime victories to date with $541,557 in career earnings. 

Riggins’ dam, Towner’s Image, has a Bettor’s Delight yearling colt, Townslight Hanover, selling this fall, and she will be bred to Western Ideal in 2009.

One to Watch- Blogette Hanover (Allamerican Native-Bikini Hanover) 3YOFP may have missed her freshman season but she has entered the scene and has given notice in 2009 as a three year old by pacing 4 straight wins in January at Woodbine taking a lifetime record of p,3,1:55.3s and banking $30,770.  Trained by John Burns and piloted by Randy Waples, Blogette’s performance has remained consistent even after a step up in class on the 29^th pacing to a 1:55.4 victory by 2-1/4 lengths in a $17,200 F-nw2R3500.  John Burns, Peter Berry and John Fielding own the up and coming filly.

Blogette’s dam, Bikini Hanover, has produced 3 $130,000+ winners in her broodmare career and has a The Panderosa yearling colt, Beach Bum Hanover, to sell this fall.   She is in foal to and re-booked to Western Ideal in 2009.

On A Roll- Hanover Bred Horse of the Month for December 2008 Apere Hanover (The Panderosa-Appleonia-Art) p,3,1:52.1m $132,498 has continued to earn her keep winning two straight at The Big M in January -pacing 1:52.3 & 1:53 miles.  Apere earned $31,510 in 4 starts this past month never missing the top three on the pay out board.  Monte Gelrod conditions the 4YO pacing mare and Tim Tetrick guided her winning starts in January for owners Dennis Young, Steven Held and Joe Pavia, Jr.

Honorable Mention- Lookout Hanover (The Panderosa-Ladyking) p,4,1:50.2m $159,949 scored 3 second place finishes in the Complex Pacing Series at The Meadowlands including the $70,000 final (by a head) pacing miles in 1:51, 1:51.4 & 1:51.2.  On 1-31-09 Lookout took a new lifetime best record of 1:50.2m in a $25,000 conditioned pace at The Big M for trainer Kevin McDermott with Tim Tetrick on the lines.  Lookout Hanover added $41,875 to his career bankroll in January for owner Francis Azur.  He is the first foal from the Cam’s Card Shark mare Ladyking who is a daughter of the productive Cindy B, dam of winners totaling $930,313.  Ladyking has a Western Ideal yearling filly, Lionness Hanover, to sell in the fall, is in foal to Allamerican Native for 2009 and is booked to World Champion and O’Brien Horse of the Year Somebeachsomewhere for the 2009 breeding season.

 3YOFP- Voelz Hanover (Astreos-Vassar Hanover) p,3,1:51.2s $616,421 won her $246,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final at Woodbine on 11-15-08 clocking a 1:56 mile.  Voelz banked $362,523 this season with 6 wins, 3 seconds and 2 thirds taking a new lifetime best of 1:51.2s in her ONSS Gold elimination at Woodbine on 10-20-08.  She secured a 1:52 win in the $117,600 ONSS Gold Final the following week by 2-3/4 lengths.  Trained by Benoit Baillargeon and owned by Richard Berthiaume, Voelz was driven by Mario Baillargeon in her Canadian starts this season.  The able filly has merited $616,421 with 13 lifetime wins to her credit.  Congratulations!

2YOFT- Yursa Hanover (Windsong’s Legacy-Yankee Topaz) t,2,1:56.2m $334,801 scored a second place finish by a nose in the $700,000 2YO Filly Trot Breeders Crown at the Meadowlands on 11-29-08 after leading from the half in a first over bid.  Yursa trotted strongly holding eventual winner Honorable Daughter at bay through a quick 3^rd panel (28.4) and dug deep to hold onto second at the wire with a 29 last quarter equaling the race time of 1:55.3.  Benoit Baillargeon trains the freshman trotter who won her Breeders Crown elimination the prior week in a lifetime best of 1:56.2.  She was second in the $486,640 Goldsmith Maid to Andover Hall sired and Hanover Bred Up Front Annika (Photo Of A Lady) on 10-25-08 and scored her maiden victory in the SQP-Distinction at Hippodrome De Montreal on 9-28-08 trotting in 2:01.3.  Yursa was driven to victory in Canada by Mario Baillargeon and in the US by Daniel Dube.  Congratulations to owner Richard Berthiaume and the filly’s talented support team.

True North Hanover (The Panderosa-Tricky Tooshie) 5YOGP p,5,1:50.2f $601,397 was a winner of two starts and one second place finish in November at Chester banking $39,450 for the month.  True North bettered his lifetime mark in October to 1:50.2f proving that somethings do get better with age.  His lifetime card boasts 27 career victories and he is having his second richest season with $160,470 earned in ’08.  Co-owner Donnie Russell trains for Edward Needle.  True North has been in rein to a variety of drivers with Dave Palone piloting his lifetime best at Chester.  True North’s dam, Tricky Tooshie is in foal to The Panderosa for 2009.

Slickest Hanover (Western Ideal-Suntan Cathy) 5YOHP p,1:50f $405,599 took 2 of 3 starts in November also at Chester earning $36,700 for the month with a third place finish thrown in for good measure.  In his last start Slickest paced a 27.2 final fraction to take the wire first in 1:50.4.  He has started 23 times this season for trainer Josh Green and paced all of his miles under 1:55 with 17 performances under 1:52 totaling 4 wins, 8 seconds and 3 thirds and $148,600 for the year.  Hal Glestein of PA holds the papers on the pacer and Eric Goodell has been his primary driver in ’08 guiding him to a 1:50 mark in May at Chester. 

Up Front Kyle (Western Hanover-Armbro Windchime) 4YOGP p,1:51.f $165,223 won two in a row this November including a $30,000 3-4YO Open Handicap in his last start at Chester pacing in 1:54 flat.  The previous week he claimed a $27,000 conditioned pace in 1:51.1 by a neck in a lifetime best. All in all Kyle credited $35,430 to his bank account in Nov. and has $102,202 for the year.  Up Front Kyle is trained most recently by Richard Bilach and was driven to his lifetime mark by Cat Manzi but has spent time in the Burke Training Stable and Mark Ford Training Stable this season as well posting 6 wins, 6 seconds and 1 third for the year.  Niele Jiwan is listed as owner in his most recent starts.  Kyle’s dam, Armbro Windchime, is in foal to Allamerican Native for the 2009 foaling season.

Abraxas (Dragon Again-Dandy Dana) 5YOGP p,1:51.2f $96,896 scored 3 wins in November his most recent in a $25,000 Preferred Handicap at The Meadows on 11-24-08 pacing in 1:53.4.  His November earnings total $41,250 with two Preferred wins in a row (1:53.1 on 11-17-08), a condition pace victory (1:52.2 on 11-3-08) and a second place finish (by a neck in 1:53.1) in his first Preferred start on 11-10-08.  Jeffrey Fife has conditioned the pacer for owner Edward Moritz all season with Rodney Bolon on board.  Kyle has flourished as a five year old with 7 wins, 5 seconds and 2 thirds and a new lifetime best of 1:51.2f taken in October this season running his earnings up by $88,285 at his home track - The Meadows.

Hanover Bred “Horse of the Month” for October 2008-

 Two Year Old Trotting Filly- Up Front Annika (Andover Hall-Photo Of A Lady) t,2,1:55.1m $341,561 claimed victory to the $486,640 Goldsmith Maid Final for two year old trotting fillies on Oct. 25. at Woodbine in 1:57.1s giving the freshman lass her second win of October (the first being her Goldsmith Maid elimination win on 10-17-08 in 1:57s).  John Campbell piloted the Kelly O’Donnell trainee wire to wire from post position 4 setting off all timers (28.1, 58.1, 1:28.1 with a 29 flat final fraction) winning by a 1-3/4 length margin for owners Ed Mullinax and Murray Brown. 

 Up Front Annika was also a winner of the $74,600 International Stallion Stake at Lexington in Sept. in a lifetime best record of 1:55.1m with Ron Pierce on the lines.  She finished second by a head in the $63,100 Bluegrass Stake the previous week at Lexington and had a PASS leg win on her card from Sept. as well.  In 2008 Up Front Annika has earned $341,561 with 9 starts- 4 wins, 2 seconds and 1third.  Congratulations to her winning connections!

 Hanover Bred “Horse of the Month” for September 2008-

 Three Year Old Pacing Filly- Sprig Hanover (Allamerican Native-Special Beauty) p,3,1:52.1s $362,238 paced three heats in the Jugette at Delaware, Ohio in Sept. Sprig Hanover had finished 5^th in the first heat of the Jugette after some rough going early and made a three wide move to claim a check then came away with a win in the $144,228 second heat (1.54h) forcing a race off between herself and Western Ideal sired Good News Lady who had won the first heat.  Driven by John Campbell and trained by Linda Toscano, Sprig took the lead of the race off and paced through easy fractions with a speed duel ensuing in a brush for the wire with a 26.4 final quarter placing her second by a neck to Good News Lady. 

 Sprig Hanover set a new lifetime record of 1:52.1s this season at Mohawk in July closing with a 26.3 last quarter clocking in a 3YO Filly Condition race and paced a 1:53s win the week prior in a condition.  She won the $176,750 Northlands Filly Pace in May of 2008 in 1:54 and was beaten by only a nose in her elimination (1:53.3) after leading all fractions with Randy Fritz guiding.  All together Sprig has earned $235,918 her sophomore season (with 17 starts-4-3-1) and sports $362,238 lifetime for owners Joseph Critelli, William Switala and James Martin.

Hanover Bred Horse of the Month August 2008-

Aged Pacer- Hyperion Hanover (Camluck-Hattie) 5YOGP is Hanover Shoe Farms August Horse of the Month for making his dam Hattie only the second mare in history to produce three sub-1:50 performers (the other being Rich N Elegant also a Hanover Broodmare)!!  Hyperion improved his lifetime record on 8-23-08 in the $45,120 Open Pace at Mohawk clocking a 1:49.2s victory!  Hyperion earned $56,740 in the month of August with 2 wins and 2 seconds at Mohawk.  On 8-16-08 he crossed the wire first by a head in an exciting photo finish setting off the timer at 1:50.2 in the $35,720 Preferred Pace.  Hyperion has 18 lifetime wins with $437,123 in career earnings including $110,360 banked this season for owner S S G Stables of NY.  Hyperion is trained by Robert Don Fellow and was driven by Mike Saftic (in two of his Aug. wins), Jody Jamieson and Rick Zeron.

His dam, Hattie, has produced progeny earnings of over $3.6 million with 1 multi-millionaire, 3 $200,000+ winners and 6 $100,000+ winners!  Her son Holborn Hanover (Cam’s Card Shark) holds the distinction of being the fastest racing Standardbred in history with a 1:46.4m record taken in the US Pacing Championship at The Meadowlands in August of 2006 at the age of 5.  He earned $1,125,876 his three year old season with 7 wins including $1 million The Meadowlands Pace, $345,900 Progress Pace and $258,190 James B Dancer!  Pacing to 27 victories with a career bankroll of $2,104,143 from 5 season of racing made Holborn his dam’s richest foal.  Holborn died earlier this year due to a fracture in his right rear cannon bone and is buried in Hanover Shoe Farms historical cemetery but remains in the record books and in our hearts.

Three Year Old Colt Pacer of the Month- Major General (Western Ideal-Go For Best) p,3,1:51.1m $190,418 (12 starts-2-6-1).  Trained by Ervin Miller and driven by Andy Miller Major General paced to 4 second place finishes and banked $166,368 in the month of August!  On 8-2-08 he was 2^nd to Shadow Play in his world record mile at Pocono Downs (1:48.4) in the Adios elimination and on 8-9-08 he came within a half-length of the winner at the wire in the $350,000 Adios Final!  His case of seconditis continued with a second place finish in the $200,000 Battle of Brandywine Consolation at Chester behind Moon Beam and in the $65,475 Cane Pace elimination at Freehold behind Badlands Nitro after leading mile fractions!  Owned by Brittany Farms and Reality Stable, Major General earns a spot of recognition for most money banked in Aug. without winning a race!  Here’s hoping he finds his way to the winner’s circle again soon.

Two Year Old Pacing Filly of the Month- Wildflower Hanover (Western Ideal-Witchn Flight) earned $61,537 in August with 2 wins and 2 second place finishes all at Freehold Raceway.  After winning her $35,200 Early Closer for 2YO Filly Final at The Meadows in July and a leg of the pacing series with a lifetime record of 1:54.4f, Wildflower made her debute at Freehold with a 2^nd place finishes in the $50,120 Molly Pitcher on 8-9-08 and $20,000 NJSS (Leg 1) on 8-16-08.  Making her 3^rd trip to the winner’s circle her freshman season on 8-22-08 in the NJSS (Leg 2) with a 1:55.1h mile Wildflower showed herself worthy of respect and hung onto a dead heat win the following week in her NJSS (Leg 3) division after leading from gate to wire in 1:56.4h!  Wildflower has banked $96,767 her freshman season thus far with 10 starts-4-2-1.  She is owned by Randy Bendis, Frank Castelli and Reed Broadway, trained by Randy Bendis and David Smith (in NJ) and was driven in her August wins by Patrick Berry.

Two Year Old Trotting Colt of the Month- Salutation Hanover (Andover Hall-Swift Kathy) t,1:56.2f 8 starts-4-1-1 and $127,354.  A winner of 2 starts in August including the $20,000 Arden Stake at The Meadows wire to wire in 1:59.3f on 8-8-08 and a $34,853 PASS leg at Pocono on 8-22-08 in 1:56.2f by 6-3/4 lengths!!  Salutation has gone on to win 2 starts in Sept. both $46,000+ PASS legs- one at Chester in 1:57.4 and the other at The Meadows in 1:59.1 both by 4-1/4 lengths the best!!  Salutation is owned by Sylvia Burke, Randy Ringer, Frank Baldachino and David Scharf, trained by Mickey Burke and was driven in his last four straight wins by Dave Palone.

Hanover Bred Horse of the Month for July 2008-

Vertigo Hanover (The Panderosa-Varbo) 2YOCP p,1:51.1m $85,960 took a national season’s best record for two year old pacers in his Woodrow Wilson elimination at The Meadowlands on 7-25-08 with Jody Jamieson on the lines for conditioner Duane Marfisi.  In a three wide move from 4^th at the ¾, Jamieson guided Vertigo to a 27.2 final fraction taking the win by a ¾ length margin for owner Uncirculated Stable. 

Vertigo earned $82,000 in the month of July with 2 wins, including his $60,000 Niatross division in 1:54.2 on 7-17-08 at The Meadowlands, and a third in the $350,000 Wilson Final (with an individual time equaling his lifetime best of 1:51.1).

Vertigo’s dam, Varbo, will sell a Western Ideal yearling filly, Very Idea Hanover, at The Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg this Nov.  Varbo is a 100% producer of 1:54 speed who has total progeny earnings of nearly $800,000 including 2 $200,000+ winners- Voracious Hanover p,2,1:53f; 3,1:51f $281,484 and Valkyrie Hanover p,2,1:53s; 4,1:52.1f $299,097.

3YOCP- Segundo Hanover (Cam’s Card Shark-Sparkling Hanover) 3YOGP p,3,1:51m $47,770 lifetime (5 starts- 5 wins and $42,050 in 2008).  A winner of $20,050 in the month of April winning 3 starts at The Meadowlands including a 1:51 mile with a 26.1 last quarter on April 10^th with Ron Pierce on the lines for trainer Mark Ford.  Owned by Martin Scharf, Segundo equaled his lifetime best once more on May 2^nd and has paced all five sophomore wins in 1:52.1 or faster!

3YOFP- Riven Hanover (The Panderosa-Ring) 3YOFP p,3,1:54.1f $67,324 lifetime (8 starts- 3-2-1 and $36,562 in 2008).  A winner of the $34,000 Canton Township 3YO Filly Pacer Late Closer Final at The Meadows on 4-25-08 in a career best of 1:54.1, Riven earned 2^nd (1:54.3) and 3^rd (1:56.1) place finishes in the prior legs of the series and captured the final victory by a nose with a 28.3 last quarter piloted by Dick Stillings and trained by Randy Bendis for co-owners William Varney and Reed Broadway.  The sophomore pacing lass also took two legs of a previous pacing series for 3&4YO Fillies and Mares in March finishing 4^th in the $26,900 final.  As a freshman The Panderosa sired filly earned $30,762 in 13 starts including a second place finish in a PASS leg and a 3^rd place finish in the $100,000 PASS Championship.

Pacer of the month-

Took Hanover (The Panderosa-Triplet Hanover) 5YOHP p,3,1:49m $473,707 was the winner of the fastest opening elimination of the $50,000 George M Levy Free For All Pacing Series on Saturday March 29^th pacing a 1:52.1 victory, his second of 2008.  Taking all the timers first the Noel Daley trained pacer scored a strong finish, a 27.4 last quarter, with Gregory Merton in the sulky for owners Adam Victor & Son Stable LLC and John Fielding. 

Took previously claimed the $30,000 Open Handicap on 3-15-08 in 1:52.1 and appears to like the racing surface at Yonkers where he has earned $40,000 for the month of March.  The George M Levy Free For All Pacing Series continues weekly throughout April with $50,000 legs and an estimated $200,000 Final on 5-3-08. 

Took’s dam, Triplet Hanover, has a Western Ideal yearling filly, Truthfully Hanover, to sell at and is in foal to The Panderosa with a full-brother or sister to Took Hanover due in April. 

The Panderosa stands at Hanover Shoe Farms in Pennsylvania and his crops are eligible to the estimated $10 million in PA purses starting this year!! 

Trotter of the month-

“Hanover Bred” Axson Hanover (Lindy Lane-Atomic Reactor) 4YOGT t,4,1:56.4f $35,120 took the $26,900 West Chestnut Street Final at The Meadows on 3-25-08 in a new lifetime best record for trainer, driver and owner Harold Brocklehurst.  The pair wired the field from start to finish in the trotter’s 3^rd win of the season.   

Axson is 3-2-0 in 10 starts for 2008 with $29,870 bankrolled, including a win and a second place finish in the late closing event at The Meadows on 3-11-08 and 3-18-08, and $21,790 earned in March.  His dam Atomic Reactor produced winners of close to $500,000 including two $100,000+ winners and resides in the retirement herd at Hanover Shoe Farms.

“Hanover Bred” Horse of The Month for February 2008-

 True North Hanover (The Panderosa-Tricky Tooshie) 5YOGP p,3,1:50.4f $467,607 in career earnings.  True North scored two $20,000 Preferred Handicap wins at The Meadows in Feb. with Dave Palone piloting for trainer Julianne Bobby and owners Edward Needle and Donnie Russell most recently on 2-18-08 clocking a 1:53 flat mile by 2-1/4 lengths!  The veteran pacer started out the month with a 1:53.1 wire to wire victory on 2-4-08 and had a second place finish on 2-11-08 in the $20,000 Preferred HCP.  True North has 21 lifetime victories in 63 starts and has earned $26,680 (6 starts-2-1-1) in 2008. 

True North Hanover’s sire The Panderosa stands at Hanover Shoe Farms of Pennsylvania for a $10,000 fee in 2008.  The Panderosa was ranked among the top ten Leading Money Winning Sires of All Aged Pacers in 2007 with $9,220,767 in progeny earnings and already has $1,333,579 in 2008 (as of 3-11-08 USTA).

Honorable Mention-

Evaji Hanover (Dragon Again-Evas Cam) 3YOFP p,2,1:58s $37,603 lifetime.  Evaji competed in the Hopeful Series at Yonkers in Feb. with one win and 3 seconds to her credit.  In the opening round divisions on 2-1-08 Evaji paced a 1:59.3 win with subsequent seconds in rounds 2 & 3 on the 8^th and 15^th.  In the $43,000 Hopeful Pacing Series Final Evaji lead from post 5 setting off all the timers with driver Jeff Gregory in the sulky for trainer Peter Walsh but was nipped at the wire finishing second.  Owned by Ronald Voila, Evaji has earned $21,872 so far this season and claims $37,603 lifetime.

Evaji’s Sire Dragon Again led among Two Year Old Pacing Sires in 2007 with $2,091,776 in earnings for the year.  Dragon Again stands at Hanover Shoe Farms of Pennsylvania for $10,000 in 2008 and his book is full and closed thanks to your overwhelming response.  Her dam Evas Cam has a Western Hanover yearling colt to sell this fall and is in foal to The Panderosa due mid-March.

 “Hanover Breds” with multiple wins in Feb.-

Bouncing Hanover (Cam’s Card Shark-Bikini Hanover) 4YOMP earned $19,910 in Feb. with 2 wins (in 1:54 a new lifetime best & 1:54.1) and a second at Woodbine in Feb.  Bouncing has $93,393 in lifetime earnings.  Her dam Bikini Hanover has a No Pan Intended yearling filly, Bareitall Hanover, and is in foal to The Panderosa due May. 

 Urbino Hanover (Western Ideal-Uncoupled) 4YOHP 2 wins at Balmoral Park on 2-16-08 in 1:55 and 2-23-08 in 1:55.3.  Uncoupled has a The Panderosa yearling colt, Burton Hanover, and is in foal to the late great Western Hanover due in April.

 Siblings - Weiss Hanover (Western Hanover-Wet Paint) 6YOHP 2 wins and 2 seconds (in Opens) at Rosecroft Raceway in Feb.  Weiss has $235,527 in career bankroll and 18 lifetime wins.  And Whitewall Hanover (Western Ideal-Wet Paint) 5YOGP won two Opens at Buffalo Raceway in 2:00.1 and 1:58.4 on 2-16-08 and 2-23-08 respectively. Wet Paint has a Dragon Again yearling filly, Weezy Hanover, and is in foal to Allamerican Native due late April.

Yasmin Hanover (Western Hanover-Yankee Jiffey) 5YOMP paced two victories in Feb. at Pompano Park.  Her dam Yankee Jiffey has a Cam’s Card Shark yearling filly and is in foal to Red River Hanover due in March!

 “Hanover Bred November Horse of the Month” Sharky Osborne (Cam’s Card Shark-Shady Past) claimed his 30^th lifetime victory in the $40,000 Preferred at Dover Downs on 1-28-08 equaling his lifetime best of 1:49.4f.  Trained by Josh Green, “Sharky” had 12 wins last year (7 Preferred or Opens) banking $221,360 and boasts $398,859 lifetime.  Already a winner of $31,550 in 2008 the game pacer is owned by Gary Minner & Peter Richardson and is regularly piloted by Tim Tetrick for a winning combination.  Sharky’s dam Shady Past is in foal with a full brother or sister by Cam’s Card Shark (due April) and has a yearling filly, Shaky Hanover, by Bettor’s Delight to sell this fall.  Shady Past has produced progeny earnings of $780,806 with three $100,000+ winners.  Sharky’s sire Cam’s Card Shark stands for a $7,500 fee at Hanover Shoe Farms of New Jersey.

 

Tarpaulin Hanover (Arturo-Tarport Herald) is the winner of three straight wins at Flamboro Downs in 2008!  He paced a 1:54.4h victory on 1-27-08 in line to Michael Langdon with a three wide move at the ¾ from 4^th to capture the win by a half length margin.  The eight year old gelding has amassed $509,195 lifetime and has a record of 1:51.2f as a three year old (earning $200,442 his sophomore season with 4 wins, 5 seconds and 4 thirds in 16 starts). The veteran pacer has 25 lifetime trips to the winner’s circle.  He is currently owned by SRR Stable Inc. of Ontario and trained by Shawn Robinson. Tarpaulin’s dam Tarport Herald has a yearling filly, Tia Maria Hanover, by 2007’s leading sophomore money winning sire, Bettor’s Delight, and is in foal to 2002’s Dan Patch Award winner Allamerican Native, who is off to a sensational start as a sire with Two Year Old Filly of the Year A And G’sconfusion p,1:50.2m $817,020 (10 starts-5-4-0) and $100,000 PASS Champion Lady Annie p,1:52f $143,182 (6 starts-6 wins) among his leading performers!

 

So Lucky Hanover (Camluck-Soaring Graces) banked $30,000 in January with 2 wins and a second place finish all at the Meadowlands.  So Lucky paced miles in 1:51 on 1-5-08 and 1:51.4 on 1-12-08 under the guidance of Brian Sears for trainer Nat Varty and owner James Taylor.  Then in an upgrade of class for new owner Lance Silverman he went a 1:52 mile on 1-26-08 for conditioner Bruce Saunders with George Brennan on the lines finishing second by a three quarter length margin after leading the mile fractions (27.1, 55, 1:23.3) from post 6.  The eight year old gelding has a $292,486 career bankroll and earned $64,727 with 7 wins, 3 seconds and 4 thirds and a new lifetime mark of 1:50.3m as a seven year old in 2007 despite changing hands 8 times during the year.  Such is the life of an aged gelding but he continues to earn his oats with class and has 28 lifetime victories to his credit. 

Sandro Hanover (Western Hanover-Sanguine Hanover) is 2 for 2 in 2008 earning $26,250 in January including an Invitational Handicap win at Freehold on 1-19-08 (1:55.3h) and a 1:50.4 victory at The Meadowlands on 1-5-08.  “Sandro” is under the conditioning of Mark Kesmodel for owners Joseph & Laurie Davino and has $504,476 in lifetime earnings.  The five year old gelding’s record of 1:49.1m came as a 4 year old last season as he earned $90,200.  His richest season was as a three year old banking $247,546 with wins in the LBJ Preview, Adios elim, Max Hempt elim and multiple PASS legs under the tutorage of Mickey Burke.

November 2007 Horse of the month - “Hanover Bred” Sharky Osborne (Cam’s Card Shark-Shady Past) has proved that things can get better with age! Earning $193,360 in 2007 with 11 wins, 3 seconds and 3 thirds, “Sharky” cruised to a new lifetime mark in Oct. at Chester Downs (1:49.4f) at the age of 6 under the conditioning of trainer Joshua Green.

The veteran pacer is on a win streak of three in a row at Dover Downs in November winning the $35,000 Preferred Pace on 11-26-07 wire to wire with Tim Tetrick piloting (1:51.4), took the $27,000 Open on 11-19-07 after leaving from post 8 to blaze a 26 flat first quarter, 54.4 half then passed briefly on the outside by a challenger but rebounded with a 28.3 final panel to take the win photo by a nose in 1:51.2, and the $26,000 Open on 11-5-07 once again taking all the timers first from post 7 -26.3, 56.1, 1:23 coming home in 28.1- to claim the half length victory in 1:51.1!

Owned by Gary Minner and Peter Richardson, the Cam’s Card Shark sired gelding banked $44,000 in November with his three wins and has earned $339,309 lifetime with 99 starts. Congratulations and continued success!
